CUSTODIAN – SECOND SHIFT
Full-Time Position
Start date – August 15. 2022

Qualifications

  • Minimum: A High School Diploma, equivalent or relevant experience
  • A basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures

Responsibilities

  • The custodian cleans and maintains the school building and grounds, sets up equipment for special events, and assists school personnel with work requests
  • The individual will be responsible for interacting with the Principal, faculty, staff, and the general public
  • The individual will perform routine manual labor associated with cleaning, building maintenance, maintenance of grounds including but not limited to, washing, waxing, stripping and refinishing floors
  • The individual will also be responsible for cleaning restrooms, windows, doors, furniture, desks, walls and fixtures
  • Ensure routine cleanliness, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting for all building needs during the shift
  • Ensure the cleanliness and stocking of bathrooms throughout the school
  • Daily cleaning of the cafeteria
  • Painting as assigned
  • Operate and maintain various types of grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, weed whackers and snow blowers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Performs work requiring climbing ladders.
  • Shovels, snow blows and sands current walkways, steps and driveways around the building
  • Inspects interior and exterior of building daily and advises on the need for repairs and maintenance
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • The individual must be punctual and have outstanding attendance practices
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Head Custodian and/or Principal.

Swift River School is a small rural elementary school serving the children of New Salem and Wendell in preschool through sixth grade.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

1.0 FTE Position

Requirements:

  • Special education certification
  • Strong background in reading instruction (Wilson Certification a plus)
  • Ability to support ELA and mathematics instruction based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
  • Clear, positive communication with students, families, and coworkers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of Student Support professionals
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management
  • Efficient writing skills
  • Familiarity with technology tools for students
  • SEI Endorsement a plus

You can choose to substitute in all four schools or only in the ones of your choice.

Time: Daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays till 1:30 p.m.

Rates are as follows:

Teacher/Teacher Aide: $80/day ($70 on Wednesday)

Certified Teacher: $90/day ($80 on Wednesday)

Retired Teacher: $90/day ($80 on Wednesday)

Nurse: $130/day ($110.00 on Wednesday)
