QUALIFICATIONS

-The overall responsibility is to support our student's equitable access to excellent educational options, to enjoy learning, and to discover their unique strengths, interests, strategies for learning, and tools they need to elevate their learning

-Maintain student, parent, and team confidentiality 

-Collaborate closely with Student Support Services Coordinator to ensure prompt and precise special education documentation

-Oversight of all special education programs, policies and procedures

-Oversight of all in-district and out-of-district student referrals, placement and programming

-Oversight of all student referrals, evaluation and IEP development processes and procedures

-Write special education (240; 262) and Title grants (Title 1, IIA, IV), and collaborate with principals and Director of Business and Operations in the budget lines for those grants, and maintain compliance on all grant requirements

-With Coordinator, submit annual Circuit Breaker files

-Maintain communication with legal counsel regarding compliance with all special education regulations

-Attend trainings to maintain current knowledge of regulations, legal issues

-Participate on Union #28 Leadership team, offering contributions regarding special education compliance, student equitable access to excellent educational opportunities

-Conduct classroom observations with superintendent and /or leadership team

-Conduct annual trainings (parents’ rights; civil rights)

-At the request of the district team, participate in IEP meetings

-Communicate with parents in a supportive and knowledgeable manner, with the well-being of their child as the focus

-Communicate and collaborate with and support individual teachers and student support teams, always with a positive, action oriented, and student-centered approach  

-Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written, with careful specificity in language use

-Excellent time management and organizational skills

-Complete DESE special education and Civil Rights Program Review on DESE rotating schedule

-Administrator of Special Education License--Massachusetts

A valid MA Reading Specialist license

Trained in The Wilson Reading Program and/or The Orton-Gillingham Method

Ability to teach a wide range of students at various developmental levels

Strong instructional and classroom management skills

Experience using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct reading intervention and instruction for students who are below grade level benchmarks
  • Supports literacy group models within classrooms
  • Provides reading instruction and intervention for children who are identified for additional support services, and conducts progress monitoring
  • Serves as a resource for classroom teachers in terms of administering assessments, selecting reading materials, and planning instruction
  • Implements methods to support classroom teachers and other service providers in the improvement of reading instruction, including consultation and professional development
  • Participates in Instructional Support Team and Special Education Team meetings with attention to children’s strengths and challenges in literacy/language arts

JOB SUMMARY: Provide administrative support for the school and school administration which requires a range of skills including knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and ability to assist school and direct visitors.

DUTIES:

1.Provide direct administrative assistance to the principal as well as site staff as required

2.Greet and direct all visitors in a friendly and professional manner

3.Operate a variety of general office and computer equipment

4.Receive, process, and distribute incoming mail, deliveries and interoffice correspondence as well as prepare and process outgoing mail and packages as necessary

5.Provide public relations and liaison services between the principal, administrators,school committee, staff, parents, students, external agencies, and the general public by initiating, retrieving, and responding to various forms of communication as appropriate

6.Create and distribute various materials, both physical and/or electronic, such as letters, forms, notices, lists, schedules, calendars, flyers, memos, etc. as necessary

7.Prepare, verify and submit payroll materials, purchase requisitions and invoices

8.Place requests for, and follow up on, technology, maintenance, and equipment repairs, and services

9.Assist with coordinating office and school events as instructed

10.Places and answers telephone calls to provide information, record messages, and screen calls

11.Responsible for the school filing system

12.Orders and maintains school supplies and financial transactions and tracks school fund accounts

13.Keeps attendance records of students as well as administrative and support staff

14.Logs student and staff information and assists with data management and emergency management systems (PowerSchool, Swift Reach, etc) - including student registration, state reporting and lunch verification

15.Assists in planning and execution of school emergency operations procedures (evacuation, lockdowns, accountability of staff, etc)

16.Coordinates student transportation with bus company

17.Coordinates with substitute coordinator, provides instructions and distributes materials to the substitute and completes all follow-up work associated with absences

18.Maintains school website (including calendar)

19.Works with other administrative assistants, secretaries, and central office administration to insure effective office procedures

20.Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to student information, personnel and other matters of a confidential nature

21.Performs other appropriate tasks as may be assigned

ELEMENTARY ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST

     THIS IS A ONE-YEAR POSITION FOR THE 2021/2022 SCHOOL YEAR

Shutesbury Elementary School is a small public elementary school consisting of grades PK-6. SES is seeking a talented educator interested in a 1-year position to work as a member of a team to provide academic interventions to students in grades PK-6. The majority of the position would be working with students on ELA skills.

Duties:

-Provide small group interventions for students identified as needing support-- particularly in reading and writing.

-Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, other interventionists, special educators, and the principal to design and implement an effective intervention program and schedule

-Monitor, track and communicate student progress

-Attend progress monitoring, student support and other meetings as determined by the principal

-Help administer diagnostic and district assessments, progress monitor and enter progress monitoring data as needed

-Other duties as assigned by the principal

Qualifications:

-Certified Massachusetts educator

-Teaching license in Elementary Education, Early Childhood or Reading Specialist

Candidates with strong curriculum and instruction experience in an elementary school setting and licensed Reading Specialists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Time: Daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays till 1:30 p.m.

Rates are as follows:

Teacher/Teacher Aide: $80/day ($70 on Wednesday)

Certified Teacher: $90/day ($80 on Wednesday)

Retired Teacher: $90/day ($80 on Wednesday)

Nurse: $130/day ($110.00 on Wednesday)
